Cyclists are vulnerable, difficult to see, moving slowly and have a tendency to wobble. When overtaking cyclists give them room. There are many hazards involving the overtaking of cyclists.
Cyclists travel slower than normal traffic so you do need to be prepared to slow down in plenty of time.
Cyclists accelerate quickly therefore you may need to slow down for them when they emerge from side roads, cycle lanes or the footpath.
Cyclists can also become a hazard when they need to move out to avoid objects in the road, overtake stationary vehicles or turn right. Often such manoeuvres are preceded by a glance over the right shoulder.
